| While Galileo was searching for exact temperature measurements he discovered
this fascinating method that by putting four to five precision weighted balls in a
cylinder filled with a special liquid, the balls go up or down according to the
temperature. |
| In
liquid, a solid body with the same weight and size is compelled to go down as
the temperature rises. On the other hand the solid body goes up in the liquid
if the temperature falls. The glass balls differ in weight and considering the
density of the liquid you are guaranteed that the lowest of the floating balls
in the upper part of the cylinder indicates the right temperature. |
| The
production of this thermometer is extremely complicated and possible only by
hand crafting. Each ball is blown and calibrated to exactly 2/10 oC.
Two glass balls differ in weight by only six thousands of a gram. Due to the
precise workmanship, the measurement accuracy is to within
2oC. |
| The
liquid in the cylinder of these galileo thermometers is free of CFC gases, almost non inflammable and neither
poisonous nor does it give off any vapour or gas that may injure
health. |
