Handcrafted Enamel Box |
| The traditional
skills used to make each enamel box date from the latter half of the 18th
Century and have been passd down and refined over generations. Enamel boxes
were very popular with Georgian society. |
| The boxes were
formed in paper-thin copper and then totally encased in layer upon layer of
enamel. Finally, each box was decorated with delightful scenes, flowers, or
sentimental messages by means of applying an outline decal as a guide which was
then handpainted by artists in coloured enamels. It is this method that is used
by the makers of these enamel boxes who still carry on the old
tradition. |
| Each enamel box
is individually produced by a highly skilled craftsman. Repeated applications
and firings are necessary to create the intricate details and depth of the
colour for the designs. |
| Enjoy the variety
of designs and depth of colours which have been captured by the artists and
craftsmen, secure in the knowledge that each enamelled piece is a unique
product of British skills, traditions and values. |
| Each piece is a
fine example of the skills handed down. To achieve that special texture the
enamel has been milled for many hours; the colours blended by experts to a
special formula; it is a subtle combination of talent and dedicated skill which
makes these products so distinguished. |
| A delightful
gift but made with the collector very much in mind. |
